Abstract

A nozzle 22 for use with a pressure pulse drop ejector system e.g. ink jet recorders, which is relatively insensitive to nozzle orifice rim imperfections, and provides reduced meniscus vibration facilitating a higher rate of drop formation. The nozzle 22 has a throat and is widened at the outlet orifice end. This removes the line of shear during drop formation from the fluid-solid interface to the fluid 24 itself. The widened orifice end reduces the amplitude of meniscus vibration. Decreasing the throat area increases meniscus damping. <IMAGE>
