Abstract

Channel selecting apparatus is for use with a television receiver 10 selectively coupled to a first or second tuner 33A or 33B, and a video tape recorder 20 coupled to the tuner 33B, the tuners 33A and 33B being tunable to preselected channels for receiving television signals which include synchronising signals SH and SV. The apparatus comprises selectively operable channel selecting means (40, Fig. 1) common to the tuners 33A and 33B for generating and supplying channel selector signals to the tuners 33A and 33B to determine the tuning condition thereof; manual adjusting means (VA1, etc., VB1, etc.,) for adjusting the tuning conditions of the tuners 33A and 33B respectively; a switch 36 having inputs S and M coupled to the tuners 33A and 33B, respectively, and an output coupled to the television receiver 10; and switching signal generating means 51 to 57 for generating a switching signal 55 to control the switch 36, the switching signal SS being formed from the synchronising signals SH and SV contained in the output of the tuner 33A, whereby a signal of one field period supplied to the television receiver 10 can be composed of the outputs of the tuners 33A and 33B, so that part of the picture is derived from the output of the tuner 33A and the remaining part is derived from the output of the tuner 33B, when the tuning conditions of the tuners 33A and 33B are being manually adjusted. <IMAGE>
