Abstract

The invention relates to a tensioning device for cable, strap and/or chain systems, the device having two connector heads 12 and 20 for attaching to the system, and with at least one screw tensioner 2, 3 for changing the distance between the connector heads 12, 20. The screw tensioner 2, 3 comprises an internally threaded sleeve 3 engaging with a threaded spindle 2, these two parts being partly enclosed in a housing 1. The screw tensioner 2, 3 incorporates a spring 17 resiliently resisting extension of the device. Preferably the spring 17 thrusts against a thrust plate 5 fixed to the screw tensioner 2, 3. The thrust plate 5 is arranged e.g. studs and slots 6, 7 so that it cannot rotate relative to the housing, but can move up and down, in directions parallel to the axis of the threaded spindle 2. <IMAGE>
