Abstract
A ladle in which molten metal held therein may be treated by a bottom blowing process, i.e. a process in which a treatment gas or a carrier gas with entrained solids is blown through the base of the ladle. The ladle has a ladle floor 1 on which is mounted an apertured brick 2 through which the gas is blown into the melt, and there is a closure member 5 movable to open and close the apertured brick 2. <IMAGE>
