Abstract
The invention relates to a propellant for aerosol spray cans, particularly lacquer spray cans, which is based on the use of carbon dioxide. One difficulty in using carbon dioxide as a propellant is that it is difficult to mix, particularly with a lacquer or similar product. The invention is characterised in that the carbon dioxide is mixed with a propane/butane mixture. Preferably the propellant comprises 20 percent by weight of carbon dioxide mixed with 80 percent by weight of propane/butane mixture. Such a propellant has been found to have no fire risk even though a propane/butane mixture is used and to facilitate mixing of the carbon dioxide.
