A roof and/or wall construction for heat treatment chambers (15) comprising rectangular plates (19) carried by carrier bricks (13) connected to the structure of the heat treatment chamber (15) the plates (19) having a central opening (21) into which the carrier brick (13) fully penetrates so as to support the plate (19) on a part (16) of the carrier brick (13) of enlarged cross- section and the end of the carrier brick (13) being proud of the side of the plate (19) facing into the chamber (15). <IMAGE>
