Abstract

A bearing, particularly a railway bearing, has a thrust disc 22 at one end of the axle 10 located between axially opposed thrust faces 14, 18 in the bearing housing 11. One of the thrust faces 18 is provided by a number of arcuate elements 17 assembled into a circumferential groove 16 at that end of the housing outboard of the thrust disc, the arcuate elements being located and retained in position by a spacer ring 21. As described, the thrust ring 17 comprises four elements (17a, 17b) whose ends are parallel to a diameter of the ring. <IMAGE>
