Abstract

The bores 3 in the liner flange 1 through which cooling water flows have a heat insulating layer in the form of an air gap 10 around a metal tube 11 or in the form of a polyvinylidene fluoride tube, serving to inhibit the removal of heat from the combustion chamber 8 to the cooling water and thus ensuring that the temperature of the operative surface of the liner does not drop below the dew-point temperature of the combustion gases. <IMAGE>
