Abstract

A metal sheathed resistance heating element for convection heaters comprises a heating resistor 10 embedded in insulating material 12 and enclosed in a metal sheath 16a provided with integral wing-like heat exchange projections (18) whose surfaces are finned at A by shearing and bending adjacent portions of the surfaces. Two, three or four wings may be provided, and the unsheared margins 18a of a pair of wings may be bent towards one another. The winged sheath may be formed of extruded aluminium. <IMAGE>
