Abstract
A programmable timer for individual control of a plurality of control functions comprises a switch for each of the functions, each switch being settable by respective setting elements so as to be actuated at predetermined on and off time, and separate indicators 13, 14 which provide a simultaneous indication of the on and off time settings of the respective switch. As shown the indicators 13, 14 are coupled to the sliders of linear potentiometers the output voltages of which are fed to respective D-A converters (26, Fig. 2 not shown). The corresponding switch is actuated when a digital comparator (25) detects coincidence between the value in the converter and the time of day as shown by a display 11. Alternatively the time of day is converted to an analogue value which is fed to comparators (36, Fig. 3 not shown) which each also receive the output of a respective potentiometer. The timer shown controls hot water, central heating, and an oven. <IMAGE>
