Abstract

One part 4 of the rotary joint carries a shaft 9 which is provided with a key 13 on part 11 of its length. The other part 16 of the joint has a bore 17 of larger diameter than this part 11 of the shaft and there is a split ring 18, fitted by force in the bore and located between the bore and the shaft, its slit being engaged on the key 13 of the shaft. On displacement of the parts of the joint, a braking effect is obtained through friction between the external face of the ring 18 and the internal surface of the bore 17. <IMAGE>
