Abstract

To enable foundations to be laid simply and quickly without the need for shuttering and having to wait for the concrete used to set, a plurality of foundation stones (1, 23, 24) are placed side by side in an excavation for the foundations. The foundation stones (1, 23, 24) have a ground surface (2) which is of greater length (a) than the upper surface (5) of the stone (1, 23, 24) whilst of equal width (b) to the upper surface (5). The sides of the foundation stones (1, 23, 24) are formed as either slopes (7, 8) or a vertical surface according to their intended position in the foundation structure. For corners, an inclined lateral surface of a foundation stone may be provided. The stones may be layed directly on the ground or on a bed of gravel or mortar. Notches 10 receive lifting tools. <IMAGE>
