Abstract

A creping doctor in which a long, thin blade (110) is applied to a moving carrier surface (12). A preferred angle of blade approach to the carrier surface is substantially normal to the carrier surface, so that the carrier surface tangent and the blade surface receiving the product make an angle ranging between acute and obtuse. A bladeholder (130) has provision to allow both coarse and fine compliance of the blade to any contour variations in the moving carrier surface and holds the blade at line-contact supports (124, 131). <IMAGE>
