Abstract

A brick or block has two opposite end portions (2, 4) and an intermediate portion (6), the latter having a square cross section so that the brick or block can be layed in two positions 18 in a course of blocks having a thickness equal to the side dimension of said square. The end portions (2, 4) may be shaped as desired, and the overall dimensions of the brick or block may be conveniently those of a standard brick so that both standard bricks and bricks according to the invention may be used in the construction of walls and the like. The "square" and related dimensions may be modified to allow for mortar between various faces of the blocks. <IMAGE>
