Abstract

An electrochemical storage cell has a metal wall (1) which seals the cell, a solid electrolyte (2) and current collectors (3,4). The solid electrolyte (2) consists of an inner tube (5) of beta -aluminium oxide and an outer tube (6) of beta - aluminium oxide, one end of the double cylinder so formed being sealed by an annular disc (7) of alpha -aluminium oxide. In this way a cathode chamber (2a) is formed for catholyte and an anode chamber (1a) for the anolyte, the anode chamber (1a) being in the form of two communicating chambers (8 and 9). <IMAGE>
