Abstract

A protective ankle pad for a football player comprises a flat flexible pad 10 adapted to be wrapped around the player's ankle and comprising a central region extending from the upper edge 14 to the lower edge 12 of the pad and two wings 20 extending laterally from the central region adjacent the lower edge 12 of the pad. The pad comprises two superimposed layers of cloth stitched together along parallel seams 30 to define longitudinal pockets, each of which receives a respective length 26 of plastics or rubber tube these tubes providing the required cushioning effect. <IMAGE>
