Abstract

An animal basket, which is suitable for use by domestic pets such as dogs or cats, but which may also be used as a brooding or hatching basket for poultry such as ducks, comprises two half shells (1,2) both moulded from a closed-cellular plastics material such as polyurethane or polystyrene. Each half shell (1,2) has formed therein a side recess or half- aperture (4,5) and is adapted to be assembled with the other half shell (1,2) to define therewith a cavity (8), with the side recesses (4,5) aligned to constitute an access aperture leading to the cavity (8). To assist in the mounting of one half shell (1,2) on top of the other step or recess (6) is provided on the rim of the lower half shell (2) for mating engagement by a complementary shoulder (7) on the rim of the upper half shell (1). <IMAGE>
