Abstract

A butterfly valve disc 8 is pivotally mounted about an axis perpendicular to and off-set from the valve axis and has a frusto-conical sealing surface 88 which co-operates with an annular surface 50 of a resilient sealing ring 38. Rotation of the disc 8 beyond the closed position results in increased sealing pressure between the two surfaces 50, 88. <IMAGE>
