Abstract

The injectivity of a sea water injection well that has declined after a period of injection is increased by introducing into the well an effective quantity of a hydrocarbon-free, higher alcohol-free mixture of a di or tri carboxylic acid, eg citric acid, and a C2 to C4 alcohol, eg isopropyl alcohol. Mixture can be employed with sea water injection stopped or with flow of sea water maintained.
