Abstract

A sealing layer, particularly a polyvinyl chloride sheet, is secured to an underlying structure in a watertight manner by means of a number of plates 5 and fastening members 8, such as nails or screws. One end of the fastening member 8 is screwed partly into the plate 5 at the inner side thereof, and a bonding agent 15 is applied on the sealing layer 4 at the intended area of securement of the plate 5, whereafter the fastening member 8 is forced through the sealing layer 4 and into the support 1, placing the plate 5 in abutting position against the sealing layer 4. The device to perform the method consists of a rotating element 9 which engages the external face of the plate 5 and when rotated brings along the screw 8 and the plate 5 in its rotation, thus driving the screw home, ensuring abutment of the plate against the sealing layer. <IMAGE>
