Abstract

In a joint between rails 10, 12 of the type formed by a headed bolt having its shaft axially slidable in a two-part sleeve 36, 38 which is held in the channel of rail 10 by a grub screw 52, the bolt has ribs 72 which, before formation of the joint, co-operate with ridges 94, 96 on the sleeve to prevent withdrawal of the bolt from the sleeve. The grab screw 52 engages a locking insert 48. The insert is received in a through-bore in the sleeve. Co- operating grooves 104, 106 on the insert and ridges 98a, 98b in the through- bore prevent the insert from dropping right through the bore whilst allowing it to be inserted from either end of the bore. <IMAGE>
