Abstract

A loudspeaker of the type including a pair of co-axial speech coils 16, 12, one driving a cone 14 and the other a high-frequency diaphragm 10 at the rear of the loudspeaker, has the speech coils operating in respective annular air gaps in series with one another and formed in a magnetic assembly comprising an outer ring magnet 1, a pair of annular magnetic plates 2, 3 fitted at the ends of the ring magnet 1 and a central magnetic pole piece 8 formed with an axial passage 9 defining a horn for the acoustic output of the diaphragm and extending into the openings in the annular plates to define the two air gaps, the central pole piece 8 being formed with an encircling flange 18 forward of its rear end which is secured to the rear annular plate 3 by way of a non-magnetic member 22 to constitute the sole fixing for the pole piece. <IMAGE>
