Abstract

A swivelling propeller is arranged to tilt from an operating position to a stowed position in a vessel where little stowage space is available. The upper section 8 of the propeller is in a water- proof box 12 on sleeves 14 rotatable in boarings 19 in a well 4, 5 in the vessel. The screw is driven by a vertical shaft in a steering tube 9 by a motor 16 through a Cardan shaft 18 and a right-angle transmission 11. For stowing the box 12 is turned about axis 17 to bring the entire swivelling propeller into the well. In this inoperative state the obliquity of the shaft 18 is increased. <IMAGE>
