Abstract

A concave reflector 20 is movable so as to connect optical fibre 22 either with optical fibre 24 or with optical fibre 26. The fibres may be single or in a bundle. The fibres and reflector may be in a container filled with optic liquid. Fibres of different diameters may be coupled (Figs. 5 and 6). The reflector may be partially transparent to form a continuous connection during switching (Figs 3 and 4). In a specific embodiment, a bowl-shaped reflector has an eccentric axis of rotation to provide the switching movement (Figs. 7-9). <IMAGE>
