Abstract

A security collar 12 for preventing access to a nut 11 (e.g. a nut securing a gas meter to a supply) comprises two hinged half-cylinders which when closed together enclose the nut 11. A lock in the form of a barbed member on one half cylinder engaging an opening in the other half cylinder secures the two half-cylinders together in a manner such that unblocking is not possible. Thin webs 21 on the outer side of the half-cylinders would be crushed by an attempt to undo the nut and serve as a witness to the attempt. <IMAGE>
