Abstract

A mineral-cutting tool has a longitudinal recess 14 in a shank 12 for receiving a locking pin of a tool holder. The recess 14 has an opening 16 at the foot of the shank, an intermediate step 20, and a deep portion 22 beyond the step. The shank also has a notch 24 for receiving a locking member in a face perpendicular to that having the recess. Thus the tool is useable in various tool holders. Exemplary uses including mining: the tool holder being in a drum or chain of a suitable machine. <IMAGE>
