Abstract

Cast piston ring blanks (1) have a radial bulge (2) which can be located against an abutment (5) by rotation of the blanks with a roller (3) for alignment of the blanks preparatory to machining them. In cutting the gap in the finished piston ring the bulge 2 can be removed. Alternatively the bulge may have a locating notch to engage a roller which drives the blank by engagement with the outer periphery or the notched bulge may be at the inner periphery. <IMAGE>
