Abstract

A method of densifying open- celled polyurethane foam is provided in which heated air is circulated through a mass of the foam so as to raise the temperature of the mass to between about 385 DEG F. and 450 DEG F. (195 DEG C. and 235 DEG C.), the mass is then compressed to a desired thickness while its temperature remains between 385 DEG F. and 450 DEG F. and it is then immediately permitted to cool.
