Abstract

A package which can be stacked and transported without the protection of a container to prevent damage due to stacking, has a packaging cover (2) comprising a reinforcing strip (3) of corrugated cardboard folded so as to closely encase the bottom, one pair of opposite sides (6, 7) and at least part (8, 9) of the top of the package, and a crossing band of unshrunk plastics foil (4) wrapped tightly about the package and the insert (3) so as to encase the bottom, top and the other pair of opposite sides of the package. The foil band may have sufficient width to enable it to be heat shrunk onto or folded so as to cover also the side portions (6, 7) and seal the package. <IMAGE>
