Abstract

A self-adhesive transparent foil bearing printed or other indicia associated with the adhesive is applied e.g. to a photograph etc with the foil covering the indicia to authenticate the document. The adhesive is preferably pressure- sensitive, and the indicia either be formed of the adhesive, lie between the adhesive and the foil, or lie on the opposite side of the adhesive to the foil.
