Abstract

A weft storing drum in a loom, comprises a winding tube (23), a sensing device, e.g. a light source and light sensor (3), and control means controlling the winding tube (23) in dependence on the output of the sensing device, the sensing device being mounted on a support (45) which is slidably mounted within a guide (6) of U-shaped cross-section containing a plastics anti-friction insert (46). The support (45) and the sensing device are thus easily and accurately adjustable by a fine adjustment comprising a rack (4) and a pinion meshing therein, so that the sensing device can first be moved manually (coarse adjustment), whereupon it can be accurately moved into the required end position by means of the rack and pinion (fine adjustment). <IMAGE>
