Abstract

There is provided a waterproof casing 200, 210, 220, 230 for a handheld battery-powered powertool 100 (figure 1); the powertool 100 comprising a drive output 115 capable of interchangeably connecting various tool heads 150. The waterproof casing comprises a waterproof enclosure 210, 220, 230 for enclosing the powertool 100 and an interface tool shaft 200 for connecting to the drive output 115. The interface tool shaft 200 comprises a sealing surface (335, fig 3) for sealing against an aperture in the waterproof enclosure, a fitting at the first end for connecting a tool head (340, fig 3), and at the opposing end, a shaft (310, fig 3) for supplying rotational force from the rotating drive output to the tool fitting. The interface tool shaft may comprise a rotatable bearing (330, fig 3) mounted around the shaft. Optionally, the waterproof enclosure may comprise several rigid portions 210, 230 and a flexible sock 220. Also claimed, a powertool system comprising a powertool and a waterproof casing for use underwater.
