Abstract

A catheter pump has a distal bearing support 701 comprising expandable supports 708 disposed on an impeller shaft 706 distal of an impeller body704 and may have lobes 716 or digits having an arcuate outer surface and biased to expand radially against a cannula housing wall 702 to improve bending stiffness and maintain an impeller blade 705 tip working clearance gap adjacent the wall. A re-sealable septum 754 may be disposed in a guidewire passage, to reseal an aperture formed when a guidewire guide 750 is removed.
