Abstract

A wheel rim comprises a well 3 for tyre fitting, a circumferentially extending groove 4, adjacent each bead seat, formed to accommodate an extended bead retaining toe 6 of a tyre, and at least one air pressure release passage extending from a point, within each groove, positioned such that a correctly fitted retaining toe covers the point. The passage may comprise a groove across the bead seat or a hole 5 through the rim. <IMAGE>
