Abstract

A uniaxially stretched product of crystalline polyolefins typically having a high tensile strength and a superior flexibility and suitable as a monofilament raw material for ropes, etc. can be provided by extruding a melted crystalline polyolefin; cooling and solidifying the extrudate; stretching in two or more stages, with heating, the solidified material to 12-20 times the original length in a uniaxial direction; and subjecting the resulting stretched material to two or more reductions by means of rollers, thereby effecting fibrillation of the stretched material.
