Abstract

A device for unloading poultry from a conveyor line shackle 3 includes a restraining member 6 extending parallel to the path of movement of the shackles 3, which member 6 is cooperable with surfaces 5 on each shackle 3 to prevent the shackle moving vertically, and a guide rod 7 for preventing the shackle moving laterally out of engagement with the member 6. An unloading rod 9 having an inclined limb 9a is positioned relative to the shackles so that the limb 9a enters between a shackle 3 and the legs of a carcass suspended therefrom. The movement of the shackle 3 past the limb 9a causes the carcass to be unloaded from the shackle. <IMAGE>
