Abstract

Gathering arm-type loading equipment (26) for a mining machine (11) comprises sweep arm components (29, 31), each mounted for translational and rotational motion, and displacement means, e.g. comprising hydraulic rams (30, 30a, 32, 32a), which are sequentially operated for effecting sequentially translational and rotational motion to the sweep components such that, in operation, the sweep components alternately urge spoil over a working surface (23) for pick-up by a scraper chain conveyor (24). The sequential operation of the rams is effected by a continuously driven rotary distributor valve (Figures 3-5, not shown). <IMAGE>
