Abstract

An assembly of components to be attached to a van which, when erected, provide fall protection to persons accessing the roof of the vehicle. The edge protection takes the form of articulated barriers which provide physical separation between the person on the vehicle roof and the edge of the roof, along either all or part of the edges including the ends of the loading platforms. When the edge protection barriers are articulated into position, this articulation may be by physical or mechanically assisted means, operated from ground level. The articulation of the barriers is such that it does not preclude the loading of items such as ladders , timber or other overhanging items on the load area above the vehicle, and nor do such items impinge upon the articulation of or the effectiveness of the guardrails.
