Abstract

A tower mounted amplifier (TMA) includes at least a first receive section 27 for receiving one or more radio frequency signals substantially in at least a first frequency band (e.g. 2100MHz). The tower mounted amplifier further includes a transmit / receive section 104 for receiving and transmitting one or more radio frequency signals substantially in at least a second frequency band (e.g. 1800MHz). The transmit / receive section includes a bandstop filter means 106 for substantially preventing the passage of one or more receive frequency signals at said at least first frequency band (2100MHz) from passing through the transmit/receive path 45. However, in one embodiment a transmit signal of the first frequency band may pass through the transmit /receive branch. The TMA may include a pair of circuits each including all of the above features. Each circuit is connected to a different respective BTS 21, 21, but the circuits are connected to a common antenna.
