Abstract

A chip (20, Fig 2) for a printing material container (6, Fig 2) for a printing apparatus (2, Fig 2) comprises a board 16 and a plurality of terminals 8a-8h thereon to contact contactors (12, Fig 2) in a printing apparatus (2, Fig 2). The terminals include a ground terminal 8h and at least two protected terminals 8ab-8g which are protected by the ground terminal and wherein the ground terminal substantially surrounds all sides of the protected terminals so that noise on a protected terminal is grounded by the ground terminal thereby minimising crosstalk to another terminal. The ground terminal may extend to at least two edges of the board and cover at least one quarter of the surface of the board.
