Abstract

An internal doorway installed in a wall opening between a residential room and a corridor, has a door frame 1 fixed in the wall opening including a pair of jambs 6, 7 and a top section 8. A pair of doors 12 and 13 are hung from the jambs within the frame, providing a main door 12 and an auxiliary door 13, the auxiliary door 13 being a smaller width to the main door, preferably a half door. On the corridor side, the inner edge of the auxiliary door carries a false frame section 20 which extends parallel to the jambs between the top section of the frame and the bottom of the wall opening. The auxiliary door 13 preferably has concealed hinges, and hidden fixing bolts allow the auxiliary door to be fixed in the closed position. A similar architrave section 22 is provided on the accommodation side of the half-door to match an internal architrave 21 fixed to the frame 1.
