Abstract

A temporary barrier assembly for resisting vehicle impact or attack from a predefined impact side includes a plurality of barrier members 12 arranged end to end in a run or series and an arrestor fixing located at or towards each end of the run and an arrestor 18, 30 extends between the arrestor fixings. Preferably the barrier is not fixed to the ground. Guides 36 may be provided with convex internal surfaces (see Fig. 3B). A strap 34 may be used to secure the guides to the barrier members. The barrier members may be concrete blocks or may be made of steel. The arrestor is preferably located on the non-impact side. The barrier members may interlink via corresponding projections and recesses and may be fastened together using a projection in a hole. The arrestor may be secured in place at either end using two adjacent barrier members (see left side of Fig. 1A).
