Abstract

A manual vehicle seat which allows a user to correctly position the seat is provided. The seat has a first seat portion 12 and a second seat portion 14 which is movably coupled to the first seat portion. A sensing device 20 provides a signal corresponding to at least one position of the second seat portion relative to the first seat portion and a memory device stores at least one value representative of a preferred position of the second seat portion relative to the first seat portion. An alert means alerts a user when the user is adjusting the seat position that the signal value provided by the sensing device corresponds to the stored value. This is thought to provide a cheap and simple way of allowing the positional preferences of a user to be remembered for use with a manual seat.
