Abstract

A method for enhancing the ability to electromagnetically detect a non-magnetic cavity wall tie by a metal detector including austenitic stainless steel wire wall ties and composite FRP wall ties, involves developing a few techniques consisting of the formation of a close circuit loop in the end portion of a stainless steel wire wall tie, and the formation of a cold deformation-induced magnetic phase in the end portion of an austenitic steel wire wall tic and fabrication of a separated individual loop that is ferromagnetic or conductive that can be attached to the end portion of a non-magnetic wall tie.
