Abstract

A spectrophotometer includes a dispersive element 9 and an array 5 of photodetectors 6 arranged to provide output signals proportional to the intensities of the dispersed beams directed onto detectors 6. A lens 8 is arranged between an entrance aperture 3 and the dispersive element 9. The entrance aperture 3 is located at the focal point of lens 8. The lens 8 directs beams received through the entrance aperture 3, as a bundle of parallel beams onto the dispersive element 9. The beam components diffracted by the dispersive element 9 as a function of their respective wavelengths are directed in different directions, onto the photodetectors 6 associated with respective specific wavelengths. <IMAGE>
