Abstract

An apparatus for controlling the concentration of a chemical solution by titrating to a neutral point has means (18) for producing a signal proportional to the difference between a measured pX (A) value and a pX setpoint value (B), the term pX indicating the negative logarithm of the ion concentration of a component X in the solution. Further means (2, 4, 10, 12, 14) produce a signal proportional to the antilogarithm of whichever is the greater of the divergences of the measured pX value and the pX setpoint value from neutral point value (c). Means (16) are provided for computing the product of these two signals to produce an output signal. <IMAGE>
