Abstract

A non-screw irrigation system and apparatus comprises a distribution pipe 21; a drip pipe 22; and a connection module 24 for sealingly connecting the drip pipe to the distribution pipe, wherein the connection module includes a distribution pipe connection element 27 with a sealing element, a drip pipe connection element 25 with a sealing element, and a drip pipe lock mechanism 26, to sealingly lock and optionally unlock the distribution pipe connection element and the drip pipe connection element. The drip pipe connection element may be a bayonet connection. The distribution pipe may include one or more holes for receiving the distribution pipe connection element, the hole/s having a circular chamfered step for enabling circumferential sealing of the distribution pipe connection element in the hole/s. Also disclosed is a method of configuring an irrigation system and kit for rapid configuration of an irrigation system. The irrigation system is for use in mineral leaching of heaps.
