Abstract

The bracing element comprises at least two connector plates 30 connected to and separated from one another by at least one elongate spacing portion 67. At least one edge of the bracing element comprises a serrated flange 61, 62 that can penetrate into the surface of a timber element. The serrated flange may be located on either the elongate spacing portion and/or on at least one of the connector plates. Each connector plate may have a flange that is either continuous or discontinuous along one or more of its edges. The invention further relates to a joist comprising two parallel, spaced apart timber chords that are connected by at least one of the bracing elements.
