Abstract

Apparatus for feeding articles arranged in a row from an intermittently driven metering conveyor (MC) to the lugs of an infeed conveyor (1c) for feeding the articles to a wrapping machine comprises opposed endless conveyors (212, 214) rotated in a common horizontal plane to grip the articles therebetween and so to transfer the articles from the metering conveyor to the infeed conveyor. At its upstream end, the infeed conveyor (1c), is inclined upwardly towards the path of movement of the articles between the opposed conveyor (212, 214). This arrangement permits reduced spacing between adjacent articles. <IMAGE>
