Abstract

A block 1 designed to interlock with other identical blocks to form an interlocking structure. The block 1 has a core 2, suitably in the form of a right regular hexagonal prism, having three fins 10, 11, 12 connected, e.g. integrally, to the core along interfaces defined by alternate side faces of the hexagonal prism. The fins project beyond at least one end of the core and are bounded by right irregular pentagonal prisms having side faces 10a, 11a and 12a of width a common with the alternate side faces of the hexagonal prism. The side faces 10b, 10e of each pentagonal prism which are adjacent side face 10a have widths a DIVIDED 2 and form included angles of 120 DEG with side face 10a. The two remaining side faces 10c, 10d of each pentagonal prism have widths a. 2ROOT 3 DIVIDED 2 and form an included angle with each other of 120 DEG .
